Wanted to ask for some prayer

Screen Shot 2014-04-02 at 9.21.02 AM

Hey friends. Wanted to ask for some prayer. In 10+ years of singing I don’t think I’ve ever had to cancel. This week I had to bow out of 3 events do to my voice hitting a serious wall. Most likely I just need to rest it with no singing or even talking (which is easier said then done…no pun intended) Going to a specialist tomorrow to hopefully rule out the worst case scenarios. Not asking for your pity, but pleading for your prayers cause I believe with all my heart that they are very powerful. Much love. -Phil

    Hello Mr. Wickham:
I’m sorry to hear about your voice, get better soon. I am praying for you and I’ve asked my family (actually I kinda told them) to do the same. I know you may not feel like it, but happy birthday!

    Dear Phil,

The Lord has spoken to us, one way or another, through your music/voice. He has powerfully used you to share His Word, and nothing or nobody can stop you from doing that. Just to encourage, I am sharing with you the first five verses of Psalm 103: “Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

I am praying for your speedy recovery. I declare absolute healing and restoration upon your life, in Jesus’s name.

    Your brother in Christ,

I came to know you through my two younger daughters about nine years ago when we went to your concert at Maranatha Chapel in Rancho Bernardo… you were still single. They always came there to see you sing… they’re both married now also.Just before my youngest daughter got married we came again on your latest concert at Maranatha Chapel. By the power of the blood of Jesus, Phil Wickham’s angelic voice is back to him completely. We thank you so much for your healing… in Jesus’ mighty presence, purpose, and power. Amen.

    Phil,
Praying for you during this trial! God uses the trials that come into our lives so that we may grow closer to Him. You do a great job of using the talent that God has blessed you with to glorify Him! Like others have said, God will use this time for His good, and so even if you aren’t singing, be continually looking for ways God wants to use you, because believe me, people notice when you persevere under trials, and God can use this to His glory and to further His kingdom!

“The Lord Himself goes before you, and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8

God is good, and will use this circumstance to bring glory and honor to His name. God’s healing and peace be upon you! Get well soon!

Lord, you give and you take away. You are the one who is in control. May you be with Phil Wickham. You have used him to glorify your name in so many ways and we praise you for that. Lord, you are the God how knows everything we we ask that you will be with Phil. May your grace be upon him and heal him of whatever he has. May he be able to sing for you and exalt your name like he has never done before. May this be a humbling experience for him to know that You are God. Lord, I do not know Phil personally, but if there is any sin as to why Phil is going through this, may the blood of Jesus wash him clean and purify his mouth, voice, his heart, and all of who he is. I pray that from this day on, may Phil lift his voice for you and you alone. I ask that through this healing Your name will be glorified by all people. May your blessings, peace, comfort, and unconditional love be with Phil. In Jesus’ name Amen.

Exodus 23:25 You shall serve the Lord your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from among you.

James 5:15-16 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

Prayed for you just now and will continue to lift you up. As a worship leader and someone who has struggled with vocal nodules and strain I can really relate to how hard it is to not sing or talk particularly where these are your areas of giftness and annointing. Praying…

Dear Jesus I raise up Phil to you. You know what is going on with his voice better than anyone and as Phil is a child of Yours, the One True King, I ask that you would touch his voice and heal him. Jesus you said that in your name your people will lay hands on the sick and they will recover.

17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they[b] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:17-18 NKJV)

I do not claim to have any healing ability of my own as you, Jesus, are the healer and not I. Any healing you choose to do through me, I give you all the glory. Although I am not physically there to touch Phil, I command his healing through your awesome and powerful name, Jesus Christ the only Son of God the Father.

I praise you Lord Jesus as this will become a new testimony for all to see how good you are and how you love us all.

Dear Phil, you have been a true blessing to the body of Christ. I prayed for you & this is what I believe the Lord wants you to know… For I know the plans I have for you”–this is the LORD’s declaration–”plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
In reading of His Word today 1 Peter 1:6-7 (AMP) stood out to me…
6 [You should] be exceedingly glad on this account, though now for a little while you may be distressed by trials and suffer temptations, 7 So that [the genuineness] of your faith may be tested, [your faith] which is infinitely more precious than the perishable gold which is tested and purified by fire. [This proving of your faith is intended] to redound to [your] praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) is revealed. I pray a blessing over you at this time. You have blessed some many people in this world through the gift that God has given you. I think, just maybe, that God has called you to a point in your life where you need to lay it all down in front of the Lord and truly surrender yourself to the Lord. I believe that God opens and closes doors. I also do believe that there are doors that are meant to be broken down. God is faithful. It says in scripture. I pray for your journey.

I’m not saying you have, but perhaps you could still use this time to renew the passion you have for using your voice, to the glory of God. Get back in touch with the awesomeness of be able to be creative in your ministry, and mission. Perhaps now in the quiet time (no pun intended) you needed to reflect on your direction, and get renewed vision. I pray that you will hear the still small voice of God, while you are quieted.

Even got a speeding ticket on the way home from one concert late one night because I was singing along in worship with one of your CDs on the way home and wasn’t watching how fast I was driving! ;-) My job as a speech-language therapist helps me know how important vocal rest is, but I know that’s so hard to come by with what you do. It’s so hard when what we love doing to glorify The Lord is put on hold. Praying for you Phil. To help you during this time, may I recommend a wonderful song that has blessed me immensely and I had to purchase it and put it in my “Praise & Love on The Lord” repertoire, it’s called “It’s Amazing Grace” sung by…YOU! It makes me look towards the Heavens, lift my hands and worship to an audience of ONE! It also makes me smile and dance. My prayers are for healing of course, but they’re for more than that. We are allowed to go through difficult times and when we go through them in a surrendered state? I have come to know that Jehovah will bless in ways you can’t even begin to imagine! I first quickly became a fan when you came to Chase Oaks Church in Plano, TX. You had 2 cd’s on sale and were there with a couple of other singers. I asked the then Junior Pastor, Drew Leaver who was his favorite, and he said you. So now I have 2 of your CD’s. I’m still a fan and am sending out prayers for you and your health.

    Phil,
I usually do not comment on posts to those I do not know personally, however, I want you to know that God has used your life and what you have gone through to touch many, myself included.
I have found myself lost and full of worry many times, yet through all those times God provides. The amazing love and mercy of Jesus has brought me through, and many times he has delivered it through one of your songs. I appreciate you, my brother, and I encourage you to not worry or be afraid of any thing; “let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (Jn 14:27b) is what Jesus told us. “Cast ALL your cares upon him; for he cares for you.” (1Pe 5:7)
I know you know, yet still I want you to know that my personal prayers are with you; and I hope that what I write here may be of some encouragement to you. May God bless you and keep you, may he make his light shine on you and give you peace.
    Much love,
    Your brother in Christ

May Lord strengthen your spirit as you go through this tribulation! Rejoice dear brother as the suffering tests our hearts and makes them gold! Your music and songs are so sincere, perhaps, because of your suffering. May the Holy Spirit help you persevere this part of your journey to bring much fruit for the Kingdom. God bless you!

I pray in the name of Jesus that your voice be restored and your soul boosted up, yet I also know that His will is what really matters. Perhaps it’s a time of humility that serves a purpose, or perhaps it’s a time to slow down, reflect and bask in the love of all those praying for you and who love your music. Maybe Jesus has something to whisper to you in this time. Regardless, in good and in bad time, we will praise Him above all else. In the end, it will be good.

Lord thank you for your son Phil. Thank you for the gifting and passion that you have given him for the calling you have placed on his life and the ministry that was born of it. We ask that you would please place your healing hand on him. Help him to use this time to rest, to draw closer to you and to take time to listen to the things that you want to teach him. Thank you Father for using him to help people become closer to You and to bring You glory. We ask that this anointing would be even stronger over Phil, no matter what that looks like, as he seeks after You. For Your Glory we ask in Jesus name, Amen.

I hope you feel better soon! God bless,
    A sister in Christ, Erin

Praying for you! I went thru a similar thing when I was leading worship & also singing several services/wk on worship team & in choir. I NEEDED TO REST! Sometimes the vocal chords just need to rest. Also I learned I needed to be a better listener and used my rest time to draw closer to God. I also learned to sing a bit differently, breathing deeply & not straining my voice when I hit the high notes. After some rest, my voice did come back, clearer & stronger than ever! I’ve loved singing your songs. I pray you will learn much during your rest & draw even closer to the LORD for you are already healed by His stripes. God bless you!

Phil, I have been a worship leader for almost 25 years. in 2010, my voice hit what I described as a serious car wreck. I could belt out a high Bb with no problems before that. I was diagnosed with “singer’s laryngitis” and had to have my vocal chords scoped with a camera 3 times. Thankfully, no nodes or polyps. However, I had to go see a voice therapist for 10 months, who had to completely re-train me how to talk the right way. I had not realized the daily things I was doing to beat my voice up, and the neglect to care for it. It was the roughest 2-3 years of my ministry life. Gradually I have come back, and now I am at about 80%.

It is frustrating… you have a beautiful voice and the music you sing is amazing. I have walked this road- I am not a recording artist but I have hit this in my life before. I am praying God heals you, restores you, and brings the voice He gave you back even better and stronger than what it was before.

Here is one thing that helped me: I kept asking God in my most frustrating times, “God can I please have my voice back?” One day He really spoke to my heart and said to me, “Stop calling it YOUR voice…” and I realized that I was asking God the wrong questions. So I prayed for Him to restore HIS gift in my life. And, the times I have needed it the most, it has been there. God also blessed me with a terrific team here at my church, where others could “take the lead”.

Be blessed, God is not finished with you, your ministry, or the music HE sings through you!

Sorry to hear that brother Phil,
I pray by the healing power of the Holy Spirit, you will rise up even stronger than before. We are in constant spiritual battle that affect us in every area of our lives (most likely the area where God is using) but we also know that in His name, we are more than victorious and nothing will interrupt what God has already started in you. Oh dear God, to you we give you praise and glory, let this situation turn into a testimony of your endless love. Amen!

    Hey Phil,

I’m really sorry that you are dealing with this, I actually went through almost the exact same thing a couple of years ago. I got to church one morning to lead worship and simply could not sing any of the songs that were scheduled for that day. In my case it was Acid Reflux, the weird thing is that I had no other symptoms of it before then, no heartburn or anything. It took really almost a full year and a half of figuring out my diet and what things I need to cut out, or cut back on, and for my voice to come back to full strength. I know that I can only have 1 to 2 cups of coffee a week, and there are some other things that I had to sacrifice in order to keep singing, but I’m praying that you can find some answers soon, and that your voice is able to recover quickly. I love your music and your heart for God.

    Hi Phil!

We will be praying and believing with ya bro that all is good. It’s scary as I’ve hit the wall before with my voice after having sinus surgery last year. I started using Brett Manning Singing Success warmups on my iPhone to start my day and my voice has healed great and sounds even better than ever, and honestly never have hit the wall again. If you’d like if you don’t have anything like that for vocal warms etc, I can send them to you just let me know where to send/email them. You can DM me on Twitter @BSWorship to keep it private. You are a blessing bro and God is doing amazing things through you in this time. Hit me up and let me know if you want some vocal warmup exercises. They worked for me and I’m grateful for them. Praying bro!

I heard you on the radio today. Its been a long time but I recognized your voice. I was reminded of what you sounded like when he was in high school and thought about how your singing has developed. I’ll pray for your voice…and that they find out what’s wrong…

Phil-Prayers for rest and healing. If you have vocal nodules, then do 2-3 weeks of complete vocal rest. Also slippery elm drops or tea. Don’t opt for surgery unless there is no other option.

Father, I know that I am a sinner and not worthy to call upon your name and ask for forgiveness, but as your humble servant, I come bringing my burdens at your cross. Today, my burden is for one of yours, Phil! Dear God, I am seeking your divine intervention as he goes to see the doctor. I also come asking for your healing hands upon him this very day, in Jesus name. You said in your Word, where one or two are gather together in Your name, You will be there in the mist of them. Phil’s online friends are coming together with one voice asking for your healing. Please hear our prayer… In Jesus name. Amen

    Phil,
I have been so blessed by Your music. My daughter played me some of your songs a couple of years ago, but it really didn’t catch on with me until I was visiting Solid Rock toward the end of last year and you led worship. REALLY was so blessed because you seemed to be a worshiper first, even though you are known and travel and do concerts, etc.
I was also touched by your request for prayer. A pastor of mine once said during a message that what he was wanting to know the most when someone came to him with a concern, difficulty, failure, whatever, was the question, “How will they respond (to God)?”
I am moved by your response to the Lord that you are stepping back and letting God be God and you are excited about it! It is so refreshing and strengthening to see you yield to God, whatever he has for you.
I will pray and believe for complete healing and for Him to continue to strengthen your life with His wonderful grace.
